In Typography, I was tasked with researching and creating a poster about an assigned design movement. Before jumping into the design, we were required to reflect on the examples we collected, narrow our scope, and explore font options.
While the Wood Type/Letterpress movement began in the early 1800s, the movement is more of a method for creating typography; a method that remains relevant today.
To honor this style I paired collage with abstract type, inspired by Alan Kitching, to focus on the art and physical process of making type. I also incorporated the golden ratio to emphasize the way typography’s development stems from the Wood Type/Letterpress movement.
