We were tasked with ideating app ideas and bringing our designs to life with a clear brand and intuitive user flow. The requirements included a minimum of five screens, one being the login page and one being a screen accessible through a click on a previous screen.
As an avid user of the New York Times Cooking app and Instagram, I drew on my love of creating community through cooking to create ReciPal. Like most things in life I embrace a “the more the merrier” approach when it comes to cooking and discovering new recipes.
I created a logo that’s soft around the edges to give off a friendly feel and leaned on a vibrant pallet to emphasize the joy of cooking. From viewing recipes shared by friends and family to discovering new recipes or following well known chefs, I thought deeply about the user journey and their end goals. I also considered accessibility when it came to individual design components and overall brand of the app.
